The Moai statues called Ahu Nau Nau are uniquely adorned with headdress (known as Pukao).  These statues feature high detail to a degree not seen at other sites. A fitting tribute to this being the site of Rapa Nui's first settlement.

Rano Kau is a tall extinct volcano that has a crater lake which is one of the island's only three natural bodies of fresh water. The volcanic cone is largely surrounded by water and much of it has been eroded back to form high sea cliffs.

Essential to many dances and ceremonies, the Rapa (wooden paddle) were used by performers who spun them to the rhythm of a chanted accompaniment.
